Shimla, November 24
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today flagged off two sweeping machines for maintaining cleanliness in the capital city.
These machines have been purchased through the bidding process. They have been manufactured by Dulevo, Italy. They are successfully operating in various cities such as Chandigarh, Mohali, Indore, Ranchi, Patna, Kohima, Chindwara, Bhubhneshwar, Faridabad, and Noida.
The two machines are of different sizes so ensure their optimal utilisation in the streets of the city and have cost Rs 2.41 crore and Rs 1.81 crore, respectively. Besides, Shimla Smart City Ltd. has also funded the consumables and spares for one year and standard workshop tools of about Rs 1.30 crore.
Both machines are fitted with a BS VI compliant engine and are GPS enabled for effective monitoring of their routes. Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Mayor Satya Kaundal, Secretary, Urban Development Rajneesh were present on the occasion. — TNS
