The UGC Malavia Mission Teachers Training Centre of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) on Monday organised the inaugural session of its two-week refresher course on information and communication technology for teachers working in various universities and colleges.
The aim of the programme is to make the teachers aware about the theoretical and practical aspects of information and technology and how artificial intelligence was transforming the digital world. Around 32 participants from 10 states would take part in the programme.
Dean of Studies BK Shivram, who inaugurated the programme, said that the information and communication technology was important in the higher education system as it had not just been a medium of communication but had also become a deciding factor in the rankings of the universities.
He highlighted various issues associated with artificial intelligence in specific cyber security, ethical issues and plagiarism. He stressed the fact that teachers without ethics were incompetent in the higher education systems.
DR Thakur Director, UGC MMTTC, HPU, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the importance of the refresher course in career advancement. Sunil Mankotia, course coordinator, presented a brief on the refresher course, followed by Shalini Kashmiria presenting the vote of thanks.
