Ultra International Team Award for CSIR-IHBT

The “Mission Aroma” team of the CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT), Palampur, under the leadership of its Director, Dr Sanjay Kumar, was honoured with the “Ultra International Team Award” for promoting cultivation and processing of aromatic crop.

The “Mission Aroma” team of the CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT), Palampur, under the leadership of its Director, Dr Sanjay Kumar, was honoured with the “Ultra International Team Award” for promoting cultivation and processing of aromatic crop. This was done to improve the production of essential oils in India and enhancing the income of large number of farmers.

The award comprises of a citation and cash prize of Rs one lakh. The award was given during the International Congress & Expo- 2018, organised by the Essential Oil Association of India in Bengaluru. Vineet Kumar, a farmer from Badah village in Kullu district was also awarded with the “Ultra International Iconic Farmer Award” and he received a cash prize of Rs 51,000 and a citation for his significant achievement in extension of tagetes minuta in large area through a farmers’ cluster under the guidance of CSIR-IHBT. — OC
