Lt Gen Pradeep Khanna (retd) today lauded the supreme sacrifice made by soldiers in defending the nation and said that “we are all grateful to the ex-servicemen for their supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation”.
He was addressing the ex-servicemen, Veer Naris (war widows) and others at a programme organised here on the occasion of Ex-Servicemen Day.
Lt Gen Khanna said, “By serving sincerely to protect the motherland, the ex-servicemen have etched their names in golden letters in the glorious history of the nation. “
He added, “It is our duty to remain dedicated to the security of the country and pay homage to the sacred memory and valour of the brave soldiers.”
Col Suresh Kumar Agnihotri (retd) welcomed the chief guest and said, “Every year on January 15, on the occasion of Ex-Servicemen Day, the stories of the bravery and valour of the martyrs are remembered and the Veer Naris are honoured.”
Lt Col Rajpal Rohil, in-charge of the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, Lt Col YK Prashant, Deputy Commanding Officer of 5 Sikh Unit, along with 120 ex-servicemen and 12 Veer Naris from Solan district and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
