Vice-President to grace HP Central varsity’s convocation on March 14

802 students, including 420 women, will be awarded degrees

Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan will grace the ninth convocation of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP), scheduled to be held at the auditorium of Government Degree College, Dharamsala, on March 14 . The Governor and the Chief Minister are also expected to attend the ceremony.

A total of 802 students, including 420 women, will be awarded degrees. Among them, 37 scholars, including 18 women, will be conferred PhD degrees, while 665 students, including 354 women, will receive postgraduate degrees. At the undergraduate level, 89 students, including 46 women, will be awarded degrees. Besides, 11 scholars, including two women, will receive M.Phil degrees.

The convocation will also recognise academic excellence with the presentation of 32 gold medals, including 23 to women. Of these, 25 medals will be awarded at the postgraduate level and seven at the undergraduate level.

Eminent personalities, including the Dalai Lama, former Union Education Minister Smriti Irani, former President Ram Nath Kovind and President Droupadi Murmu had attended the previous convocations of the university.

“The convocation celebrating scholarship, commitment and nation-building is expected to witness the presence of the members of the Executive Council, University Court, faculty, researchers, students, parents and distinguished guests,” said Vice-Chancellor Sat Prakash Bansal. The university administration has made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the event. All degree recipients and their parents have been requested to attend the ceremony on time.
