Dharamsala, January 2
The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) today honoured its team that won this year Vijay Hazare trophy. The team that arrived in Dharamsala the headquarters of the HPCA was welcomed by the office-bearers of the association, including its president Arun Dhumal.
The team members were felicitated at Dharamsala international cricket stadium. Arun Dhumal, who is also treasurer of the BCCI, had announced an award money of Rs 1 crore for the victorious team.
Arun Dhumal said that the cricket had come a long way since the HPCA brought its first international cricket stadium in Dharamsala in 2005. It was for the first time that Himachal had won a national level trophy in cricket. Due to training facilities created by the HPCA and cricket tournaments organized here many youth from hinterlands of Himachal were now making it to national, international and IPL levels.
The HPCA would boost the training facilities in Himachal so that more players from rural areas make it to the top level, he said. — TNS
