Virbhadra’s ‘junk’ remark enrages Sukhu’s aides

NURPUR: The ongoing war of words between Virbhadra and Sukhwinder Sukhu’s camp seems to have intensified. NURPUR, JANUARY 15

The ongoing war of words between Virbhadra and Sukhwinder Sukhu’s camp seems to have intensified.

Supporters of Sukhu, outgoing president of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC), today criticised former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for terming party functionaries, nominated by Sukhu during his six-year tenure, junk.

Vishal Chambial, state PCC secretary and president of the Congress Kisan Cell, announced in a press conference here that he would meet AICC president Rahul Gandhi and state party in charge Rajni Patil, along with presidents of the block committees of the state, and complain against Virbhadra for demoralising the party’s rank and file by giving such disgusting statements in the media. He lamented that Virbhadra’s statements were weakening the party and it would damage its prospects in the Lok Sabha elections.

Accompanying by Karan Singh Maltu, president of the Nurpur district unit, and Kamal Kishor, leader from Indora, Chambial alleged that some legislators loyal of Virbhadra Singh were instigating former Chief Minister for issuing anti-party statements in the media.

“The former chief minister, in spite opposing the ruling BJP, is opposing his own party’s functionaries. He should guide the party leadership and avoid giving objectionable comments,” he said. Terming the six-year tenure of Sukhu historic, he said he had given representation to the sidelined grassroot workers . — OC
