A ‘Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar’ outreach programme was held at Mehla gram panchayat of Bharmour subdivision on Friday. It was presided over by Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania.
Residents from Mehla, Chadi, Phagri, Bandla, Dadhvi and Wakaan panchayats participated in large numbers, placing their grievances and developmental demands before the authorities. Nearly 400 people attended the camp and also gathered information about various government welfare schemes through departmental exhibitions set up at the venue.
Pathania listened to people’s concerns and resolved most issues on the spot. He said the programme ensures time-bound redress of grievances at the local level while enabling the government to better understand the needs of the region.
He added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the initiative has been structured after careful planning to ensure transparency and effectiveness.
On a demand raised by MLA Dr Janak Raj, the Speaker directed officials to take necessary action to improve road connectivity in the Bharmour constituency.
During the camp, the Revenue Department registered 25 land mutations and updated eight Aadhaar cards. The Health Department conducted check-ups of 89 individuals, distributed free medicines, screened 17 people for hepatitis and HIV and registered four persons for disability certificates. Cheques worth Rs 6.2 lakh were distributed to six disaster-affected families, while six beneficiaries received house keys under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin).
