The scenic Chamera Lake at Taleru in Salooni subdivision of Chamba district will come alive with cultural vibrancy and festive spirit during the Winter Lake Festival-2026 scheduled to be held there from February 20 to 22. The aim of the three-day festival is to highlight Salooni subdivision as an emerging winter tourism destination while showcasing its pristine natural surroundings, rich cultural heritage and immense tourism potential.

Nestled amid snow-clad mountains and dense forests, the Chamera Lake is known for its serene beauty and peaceful atmosphere. The Winter Lake Festival is being organised to draw tourists and visitors to this lesser-known yet captivating destination during the winter, said Salooni SDM Chander Vir Singh.

The festival reflects the calm and warmth of the region and carries the message of celebration, togetherness and local culture, captured through the tagline — “Where winter warms your soul”.

He said that a logo of the event had been released which beautifully captured the serene landscape of the Taleru lake and conveyed the message of warmth, celebration and local culture. During the festival, a variety of cultural, recreational and tourism-focused activities would be organised to promote traditions, folk art and lifestyle of the Salooni region. Local artistes, performers and artisans are expected to play a key role, providing visitors with insights into the area’s cultural fabric. Besides, the festival will also serve as a platform to promote nature-based tourism and outdoor experiences around the Taleru lake.

The Salooni SDM said that such events were crucial for strengthening winter tourism and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities. By attracting visitors during the off-season, the festival is expected to boost the local economy and encourage community participation in tourism-related activities.
