Shimla, June 29
With 26 cases being reported today, the number of coronavirus cases in the state rose to 942.
The maximum number of 10 persons tested positive in Solan. The tribal district of Lahaul Spiti, which was Covid-free, reported two cases. Six cases were reported from Kangra, five from Hamirpur, two from Mandi and one from Chamba district.
Two Covid-19 cases were reported from Lahaul and Spiti. Sources said one patient was a native of Bihar, who had arrived in the Lahaul valley along with four others on June 21 from Delhi to work as labourers. Two persons had left for Patsio in the valley for the construction of a bridge by the Border Roads Organisation, while three moved to Leh.
A labourer had been suffering from Covid symptoms for the past two days. He later visited the District Hospital, Keylong. His sample was taken and today he was found Covid positive.
Deputy Commissioner KK Saroch said, “The patient has been moved to a Covid Care Centre in Kullu district. The district health authorities are trying to detect his contacts to check the spread of the virus in the district.”
The DC stated that the area of Darcha had been declared a containment zone. He urged the people not to panic and take precautions to avoid any threat from Covid-19 in the region.
10 cases in Solan
Ten Covid cases, including three women, were detected in Baddi today, taking the tally of cases in the district to 108. Of them, seven persons were in quarantine at Baddi and six of them had come from UP.
A father-daughter duo at ESI’s Katha Colony tested positive. The father is a 55-year employee of the ESI Covid Hospital at Barotiwala and hails from Kangra district.
Besides, a 19-year-old migrant from Bihar, who was residing at Vardhman Chowk at Baddi, also tested positive. He was the close contact of a migrant woman who had tested positive on June 15. All 10 patients were shifted to ESI Covid Hospital at Katha. There are 53 active cases in the district now.
6 infected in Kangra
Six more persons, who returned to Kangra from Delhi and the National Capital Region today, tested positive for coronavirus, taking the number of cases in the district to 268.
The patients include 34-year-old man from Majhera village in Jaisinghpur, 37-year-old resident of Kairi village from Shahpur, 36-year-old woman and her 8-year-old son of Nagan village from Baijnath.
They have been shifted to the Covid Containment Zone at Dadh.
Eight patients tested negative and were allowed to go home from Covid containment units.
