Woman run over by train

Palampur, January 11

In a tragic mishap, a woman (80) was crushed to death when a speeding train hit her near Palampur railway station today. Her head got severed and the body was left beyond recognition after the accident.

Police said the deceased was identified as Jagdamba Devi, wife of Nathu Ram, a resident of Dehan village of Palampur subdivision. She had gone to purchase medicine from market. She was crossing the railway line when a speeding train hit her killing her on the spot.

Railway police had registered a case. Later, her body was handed over to the family members after postmortem. — OC
