Kinnaur tragedy: Woman, son among 4 killed as car plunges into gorge

The police retrieved the bodies and an injured occupant from the gorge with the help of locals

A woman and her son were among four persons killed, while another sustained injuries when a car (HP 26 B 8999) they were travelling in plunged into a deep gorge in Nichar Subdivision in Kinnaur district today.

The deceased have been identified as Himesh Kumar (19), son of Naresh Kumar; his mother Krishna (42); Sushma (47), wife of Roshan Lal; and Inder Lal (30), son of Hari Lal.

The injured has been identified as Vidya Krishan (32), son of Hari Lal, all residents of Jani village in Kinnaur.

According to the police, the accident took place on a link road in Jani, when driver lost control of the car. As a result, the vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge, killing all four of them on the spot, while leaving one person with serious injuries.

A police team reached the spot as soon as it received the information and retrieved the injured and the deceased from the gorge, with the assistance of locals.

The injured, along with the bodies, were taken to Jindal Sanjeevni Hospital. The post-mortem of the deceased is being conducted there.

Superintendent of Police (SP), Kinnaur, Sushil Kumar confirmed the report and said a case had been registered and further investigation was on.
