World Pharmacists Day celebrated



An online discussion on 'Transforming global health' was organised by the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Shoolini University, to mark the World Pharmacists Day. The purpose of the exercise was to educate future pharmacists, as they play a great role in research and development of medicines. Prof Deepak Kapoor, Dean, Pharmaceutical Sciences, VC Prof PK Khosla and Prof Saranjit Singh, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali, addressed the participants. The VC said pharmacists were an integral role of the healthcare team, especially when the country was reeling under the Covid pandemic. Dr Saranjit Singh talked upon the role of pharmacists in transforming global health.

Declamation contest organised

A declamation contest on 'Ahinsa param dharma' was organised in Haroli subdivision by the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Una, in which students from Government College Beetan, and Swami Vivekananda Public High School, Laluwal, participated. In the school category, Annavi, Jaswinder and Vaishali bagged the first three prizes; in the college category, Preeti, Priyanka and Anuradha secured the first three places. The competitions were organised to make the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Camp to select NCC cadets begins

An online camp - 'Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat' to select 200 NCC cadets from Himachal Pardesh, Punjab, Haryana and Odisha and Chandigarh commenced today, under the aegis of NCC Group Headquarters, Shimla. The six-day virtual camp is being organised by Lawrence School, Sanawar. NCC Officer of the school, Sanjay Kumar Sharma, will conduct the event under the command of Col Bhupinder Singh Maan, CO of 1 HP Boys Bn, NCC, Solan. The webinar will cover interesting and interactive topics and presentations on history, geography, economy, cultural heritage, festivals, customs and traditions of all five states.

ABVP demands justice in UP case

The ABVP staged a protest at the HPU, demanding justice in the UP rape and murder case. While slamming the people in power, ABVP vice president Meenakshi Verma said the society should raise voice against the barbaric incident. Another ABVP leader said though the government came up with the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana, the ground reality was different, as women were still unsafe.
