Indian Youth Congress president Chhattar Singh Thakur today said that the withdrawal of the Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG) by the Central Government was affecting Himachal Pradesh.

Chhattar Singh, while addressing mediapersons here, said that the decision of the Central Government to withdraw the RDG to Himachal was unjust, as the state had received the grant during the previous BJP government’s tenure. “It is the state’s right and its discontinuation is unfair,” he added.

Chhattar Singh, who is also the vice-president of the HP Government State Youth Board, criticised the action taken against Youth Congress activists, who had protested during the AI Summit in New Delhi, calling it undemocratic and a violation of constitutional rights.

The Youth Congress chief alleged that the protesters were targeted for raising legitimate concerns, contrasting it with the handling of dissent by the Congress when BJP activists held protests during its government.
