Youth held for rape, murder of minor

The Una police today arrested a youth for rape and murder of a minor girl near Tahliwal Industrial area.

The accused has been identified as Raj Kumar Rishidev, a resident of Devasthal Bangama in Araria district of Bihar.

Gopal Verma, Haroli DSP, said the seven-year-old victim, also a resident of Bihar, was living in a room with her parents, who worked as daily wagers.

On Thursday, after the girl’s parents went to work, she was alone in the room.

Her body was found later at night in a secluded place which was some distance away from where the girl lived.

The accused, who was also reportedly staying with the family in the same room, was absconding after the incident.

A postmortem examination confirmed sexual abuse on the victim, besides being strangulated to death.

The DSP said Raj Kumar was nabbed from Punjab on the basis of specific information.

A case was registered under Sections 302 and 376 of the IPC besides relevant sections of POCSO Act. The police have arrested the youth and the investigation is going on in the case.
