ZH Zaidi in IGMC after chest pain

Following complaint of chest pain, former IG ZH Zaidi, who was in the judicial custody and lodged in the Kanda jail, was immediately rushed to the IGMC, Shimla, this morning. A team of doctors conducted medical examination and Zaidi was admitted to cardiac care unit (CCU) where he is undergoing treatment.

Zaidi was heading the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the state police to probe the Kotkhai minor rape and murder case. He, along with seven police officials, was arrested by the CBI on August 29 in connection with the custodial death of Suraj, one of the six accused in the Kotkhai minor rape and murder case.

He was sent to the police custody till September 4 and his custody was extended till September 7. A local court sent all police officials to judicial custody following which he was taken to the Kaithu jail. However, he was shifted to Kanda jail on September 10.
