ICONICA concludes with discussion on ‘science for masses’

The second day of ICONICA 2020 started with preliminary sessions, wherein eminent speakers shared their experience.

The day began with deliberations on ‘network biology approach to determine the integrated epigenetic and differential gene expression mechanism in colorectal cancer’ by Ankita Shukla and Vishal Acharya, Department of Biotechnology, CSIR – IHBT, Palampur.

There were lectures on socio-economic analysis of cancer patients in Bathinda district which stressed on the creation of awareness on healthcare.

A discussion on ‘Science for masses’ was part of the day. A scientific session on health and therapeutics was chaired by Dr Bikash Medhi and Dr Harpreet Chhabra. Dr. Akshay Anand from the PGIMER presented a talk on ‘Yoga protocol for cholesterol reduction and assessment of associated factors in indian diabetic population.’


Mental healthcare should be available at doorstep

  • Every healthcare strategy had been taken over by technology, said public policy expert Prof Rajendra Pratap Gupta during ICONICA 2020.
  • He laid emphasis on technological innovations that are increasingly influencing the market. ICONICA is a global summit on the next-gen paradigms in healthcare.
  • “The use of technology in healthcare should have a limitation. For instance, there is no need for digitisation in the pharmacy sector. We need technology to improve diagnosis and its accuracy in the country. It help in assessing health problems at early stages and taking subsequent healthcare decision,” he said.
  • On mental health, he said: “We need mobile ambulances for giving mental health services. Doctors dealing with mental healthcare should be available at the doorstep.”
