Two local youths have developed igloos near Hamta Pass in Manali as 'snow-houses' are fast catching the fancy of tourists.

Tashi Kumar who hails from Manali said they were promoting igloo tourism during winters since 2017 when temperature is congenial for making an igloo. As temperature increases, the snow-house melts rapidly.

He said inside an igloo there are arrangements of bedding for night stay of tourists.

Mohan Singh, a tourist from Delhi, said it was a wonderful experience for him to stay in an igloo.

He said it is a novel concept and tourists will like it because majority of the have had no experience of staying in an igloo.

Like Mohan Singh, several other tourists are also visiting Manali to experience a stay in igloo.

The organisers of igloo tourism said their business is flourishing this time as compared to previous years and they are planning to take it to larger scale during winter season when the Manali area will receive considerable snowfall.
