Amritsar, February 25

The advertisement wing of the Municipal Corporation removed several illegal boards displayed outside shops at Heritage Street here on Tuesday. The boards were illegally installed by shopkeepers.

MC officials said the government had installed the boards outside the shops under the beautification project. “All the boards are equal in size, shape and design,” they said.

The shopkeepers installed their separate boards, flaxes and glow signboards. These illegal boards were doting the façade of Heritage Street and visitors often complained about them to authorities.

On Tuesday, a team led, by Narinder Sharma, removed all the illegal boards from Heritage Street and warned the shopkeeper against soiling the uniformity of Heritage Street project. The advertisement wing also removed boards from Hall Bazaar, Katra Jaimal Singh and Bhandari Bridge.
