Rs 65 crore spent on India AI Impact Summit: Govt in Parliament

Minister of State Jitin Prasada says large Indian companies collectively announced plans to invest over $100 billion in AI infrastructure & digital ecosystems

The government spent Rs 65 crore on organising the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi from February 16 to 21, Parliament was informed.In a written reply to questions by MPs Priya Saroj, Pushpendra Saroj and Anand Bhadauria in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada said, "India hosted the India AI Impact Summit 2026 from February 16-21 in New Delhi and the expenditure incurred till March 9 is Rs 65 crore.”

Prasada said the summit served as a platform for dialogue, partnerships and investment announcements across the artificial intelligence ecosystem. During the event, companies and stakeholders announced investment commitments exceeding USD 250 billion across the AI value chain, including infrastructure, foundation models, hardware and applications.

He added that large Indian companies collectively announced plans to invest over USD 100 billion in AI infrastructure and digital ecosystems, along with partnerships aimed at expanding AI-ready data centres. Among the key outcomes of the summit was the India AI Impact Summit Declaration, which was endorsed by 92 countries and international organisations.

The minister also clarified that the summit was not designed as a mechanism to estimate GDP growth or employment generation, but rather as a platform to strengthen collaboration and investments in the AI sector.

Prasada further said the India AI Mission under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology would take forward the discussions from the summit.
