'Biggest anti-national act you can do is vote chori': Rahul Gandhi in Lok Sabha
'Haryana elections were stolen and theft was ensured by EC'
“Our nation is a fabric of 1.5 billion people and is woven together by vote,” said Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. He made the statement during a discussion on election reforms in the House in the Winter session of Parliament on Tuesday.
“Idea that every person in India is equal disturbs my friends in RSS. RSS fundamentally does not believe in equality, they believe in a hierarchy. RSS' project after Mahatma Gandhi's assassination was wholesale capture of India's institutional framework,” Gandhi said.
There is institutional capture of EC that directly controls election system of our country, Rahul Gandhi said.
“I have given proof how EC is colluding with those in power to shape elections. Want to ask three questions which will make it clear that BJP is directing, using EC to damage India's democracy.
“Why was CJI removed from selection panel for appointing election commissioners. Why PM, HM gave gift of immunity to election commissioners by changing law; why was law on CCTV footage changed.”
Haryana elections were stolen and theft was ensured by EC, Rahul said. He went on to say that for reform, give machine readable voter list to all parties month before polls; take back law allowing CCTV footage destruction.
“We are not just biggest democracy, we are greatest democracy,” he added.
“Biggest anti-national act you can do is vote 'chori'; when you destroy vote, you destroy idea of India. Those across the aisle are doing an anti-national act by committing vote 'chori'”.
