Rahul said while public gestures of respect were visible, the underlying approach of the ruling establishment, according to him, was different and did not support equal rights in practice. “The Congress aims to protect and strengthen constitutional values,” he said.
He said the the marathon was meant to take the message of constitutional rights and their protection to people across the country. He also took part in the event, dressed in a blue T-shirt, alongside party workers and supporters.
Later, in a social media post, Rahul described the event as a reflection of the party’s commitment to Ambedkar’s ideals and the Constitution. He said there was a need for a collective response to injustice and discrimination, drawing from Ambedkar’s vision.
Former India captain and Telangana Minister Mohammad Azharuddin was also present on the occasion and supported the initiative. “Such campaigns should be taken across the country and continued over time,” he said, underlining the need for unity and collective effort for progress.
A day earlier, the Congress’ SC and OBC departments held an event in Lucknow to mark the birth anniversary of social reformer Jyotiba Phule.
