In a public advisory, the embassy said any arrest or legal violation in the US could jeopardise an individual’s stay and future travel prospects.

“Breaking US laws can have serious consequences for your student visa. If you are arrested or violate any law, your visa may be revoked, you may be deported and you could be ineligible for future US visas,” the advisory said.

Urging visa holders to strictly adhere to American laws, the embassy underlined that compliance was essential to avoid adverse action. “Follow the rules and don’t jeopardise your travel,” it added.

The embassy also stressed that entry into the US is not an entitlement. “A US visa is a privilege, not a right,” it said, reiterating Washington’s firm stance on immigration compliance amid heightened scrutiny of visa holders.
