Shah, addressing the 57th Raising Day ceremony of the CISF at Mundali in Odisha, said that in the past one year, the force had been entrusted with the security of many projects such as Kartavya Bhavan, Seva Teerth, Noida International Airport, Navi Mumbai Airport and Bhakra Dam project. He added that after taking over port security, the CISF will also secure the ports under the country’s large maritime border.

Earlier on Thursday, CISF DG Praveer Ranjan had said that the force had established a drone training and anti-drone capability training centre at their unit at Behror in Rajasthan and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had granted approval for establishing the Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO) for training on drone operation and anti-drone systems.

“In the next modernisation plan, we will take up drone and anti-drone training in a big way,” Ranjan had told the media, while referring to drone attacks during Operation Sindoor and the prevailing conflict in Iran.

The Home Minister said in the coming days, the CISF would also provide security to private industrial groups in hybrid mode. He also laid the foundation stone for three residential complexes for the CISF in Kamrup (Assam), Nashik (Maharashtra) and Sehore (MP), which are expected to cost Rs 890 crore; and inaugurated two residential complexes in Rajarhat (West Bengal) and Delhi.

The Union Home Minister also reiterated the Centre’s resolve to end Naxalism from the country by March 31, 2026, and lauded the CISF for its significant contribution in this regard.

"We will make the country free from Naxalism and the CISF has a very significant contribution in this. The force has played its role in anti-Naxal operations in Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Telangana. By March 31, the country will be completely free from Naxalism, and those who dream of a Red Corridor from Tirupati to Pashupatinath will be fully defeated, with our security forces establishing their dominance,” he said.

Earlier, Ranjan had informed that the CISF was developing its capacity in cyber security and some cyber commandos have already been developed.

Under its modernisation plan for 2026-30, the CISF has identified 76 items, amounting to Rs 819 crore, which include training on drone solutions, establishing an integrated cyber security lab, a dedicated data centre, and a zero-trust network to safeguard its digital infrastructure, official sources said.
