CRPF chief GP Singh on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting with senior CRPF officers on the eve of first phase of polling in West Bengal. The development is being seen as unprecedented, since the level of monitoring by a chief of a paramilitary force and the deployment of around 2,400 companies (approximately 2.4 lakh personnel) of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in the poll-bound state is akin to the kind of arrangements that are normally seen in a disturbed area.
