DELHI VOTES 2025: Nadda, Yogi turn up heat, slam Kejri over ‘graft’, Bangladesh migrants
The BJP on Thursday intensified campaigning in the national capital with party president JP Nadda and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath holding rallies and cornering AAP over a range of issues from “scams to aiding infiltration of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants”.
While Adityanath yet again raised his controversial slogan “batoge to katoge”, Nadda alleged the ruling party in Delhi had broken all records of corruption during its 10-year rule. Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami also held roadshows in the Palam and Delhi Cantonment constituencies ahead of the February 5 Assembly elections.
Addressing a mammoth rally in the Kirari constituency of northwest Delhi, Adityanath attacked Kejriwal with a barrage of accusations, holding him responsible for “Delhi’s downfall”. “Kejriwal is the biggest criminal who is responsible for Delhi’s degradation. Except for the MDMC area, the rest of the capital is in bad shape. The condition of roads, sewerage, sanitation and drinking water facilities is pathetic,” he alleged.
Banners reading “ek hai toh safe hai” and “batoge toh katoge” were put up at a rally of Dushyant Gautam, BJP candidate from Karol Bagh.
Adityanath said the AAP supremo had committed a “sin” by converting the Yamuna into a dirty drain. “Yesterday, I along with all my ministers took a holy dip at the Sangam in Prayagraj. I want to ask Kejriwal whether he can bathe in the Yamuna along with Delhi ministers,” he said.
In a separate rally, Nadda stated that observing the enthusiasm of people, it was clear that they had decided to nurture the lotus and uproot AAP. “In the past 10 years, the Aam Aadmi Party has indulged in corruption and caused immense trouble to Delhi people. The AAP government has broken all records of corruption,” he alleged. He also called Kejriwal the “biggest liar” as he targeted AAP over its alleged failure to fulfil its promises.
The Union minister listed the excise policy case, in which several AAP leaders, including Kejriwal, were arrested, among “scams” of the Delhi Government.
“He (Kejriwal) lies with so much innocence on his face and misleads everyone that if a competition of lying is organised at the national level, he will come first. But the people of Delhi will give a befitting reply to AAP in the elections,” he said. “The ‘aapda’ (disaster) talked about education for 10 years, but was instead involved in a liquor scam of a whopping Rs 2,800 crore. In (the Delhi) Jal Board, they committed a scam of Rs 28,000 crore and left the people of Delhi in the hands of tanker mafia,” Nadda claimed.
