Defence Minister Rajnath Singh raised the issue of the Dutch arming Pakistan with modern weaponry during a meeting with his counterpart from the Netherlands Ruben Berkelmans on Tuesday.

Singh told Berkelmans that arming Pakistan led to instability; and India had been a victim of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism for decades.

Pakistan has been keen on collaboration with the Netherlands in the naval sector. It had supplied Pakistan with two former warships that are used for hunting undersea mines. These mines are deployed to stop submarines from sneaking underwater. Thus, these Dutch warships can locate Indian mines that are set up undersea.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence in a statement said Rajnath Singh and Brekelmans discussed elevating bilateral cooperation in areas like defence, security, information exchange, Indo-Pacific and emerging technologies.
