National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held separate back-to-back meetings with UK National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell in New Delhi, reinforcing cooperation on defence, security and global strategic issues.

The Ministry of External Affairs said Doval hosted his UK counterpart on Thursday for the annual India-UK Strategic Dialogue.

“The two sides held wide-ranging discussions on advancing the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with a focus on strengthening defence and security cooperation. They also exchanged views on key regional and global security challenges,” the MEA said in a statement.

In a post on X, Jaishankar said, “Glad to meet UK NSA Jonathan Powell in New Delhi this afternoon. Our discussion focused on regional and global security issues, as well as the deepening India-UK cooperation.”

India and the UK share a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership covering defence, security, trade, technology and climate cooperation. In recent years, ties have expanded steadily, particularly in defence exercises, maritime security, cyber cooperation and defence industrial collaboration.
