Election Commission sanctions one-time Rs 6,000 honorarium for poll officials on SIR duty
The order applies to all states undergoing the exercise, including Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh
The Election Commission (EC) has ordered the grant of one-time honorarium of Rs 6,000 to all Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Supervisors (BLSs) engaged in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The order issued on Tuesday night applies to all states undergoing the exercise, including Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.
The EC cited the large volume of work for the move and said the honorarium would be paid in addition to their officials’ remunerations.
The SIR exercise has also been undertaken in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman Diu, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura and Uttarakhand.
Booth-level officials engaged in the exercise across these regions will benefit.
