Experience the real, the reels can wait: Tharoor lauds Kerala Tourism video
The 1.31-minute video talks about living in the moment rather than merely capturing the images for external validation
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Tuesday lauded a video released by Kerala Tourism Department on social media which prioritises authentic and unmediated encounters with nature over curated performativity of social media.
The 1.31-minute video talks about living in the moment rather than merely capturing the images for external validation.
In a post on X, the Thiruvananthapuram MP said, "An eminently sensible initiative from @KeralaTourism. 'Travel Now, Post Later' invites us to reclaim our attention from the screen to the scenery. In our relentless pursuit of online validation, we often forfeit the profound joy of the present moment.
"Let us prioritise authentic, unmediated encounters with nature and culture over the curated performativity of social media. Experience the real; the reels can wait," he added.
Kerala Tourism has garnered numerous prestigious national and international accolades, consistently earning recognition for its sustainable and responsible practices. Key honours include the Global Award at WTM London (2022) for water conservation, multiple Gold awards for the Responsible Tourism Mission, and recognition as a top "must-see destination.
Tharoor actively promotes Kerala tourism by highlighting its historical, cultural and eco-tourism significance. He advocates for improving infrastructure — such as airport connectivity — and addressing safety, while emphasizing the need for the southern state to look beyond domestic comparisons and compete globally.
