The US-India Business Council (USIBC) has urged an early conclusion of a bilateral trade agreement between India and the US, saying the deal would mark a historic step in deepening economic ties between the two strategic partners.

Speaking at the USIBC’s 50th anniversary summit in New Delhi, its president Ambassador (Retd.) Atul Keshap said the proposed agreement is crucial as the two countries have not concluded any major pact in over seven decades of diplomatic relations.

Keshap described India’s rise in global affairs as a positive development for the US.
