Blaze breaks out in Wadala during early hours; firefighting teams douse flames after hours-long operation
A 65-year-old man suffered burn injuries after a fire broke out at a salon and a garments factory unit in Mumbai in the wee hours of Monday, officials said.
The blaze erupted in a shop on the ground floor of a structure located on Salt Pan Road at Sangam Nagar in Wadala at 1.34 am, they said.
The fire was initially confined to the hair-cutting salon’s instruments and electric installations, but later spread to the neighbouring garments unit, a civic official said.
A man, identified as Mohd Umar, suffered 8 to 9 per cent burns and was admitted to Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital in Sion, where his condition was reported to be stable, an official said.
At least four fire engines and other firefighting vehicles were rushed to the spot, and the blaze was brought under control by around 6 am, officials said.
