Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat met Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Friday to discuss the ongoing commercial LPG situation
Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat met Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Friday to discuss the ongoing commercial LPG situation and its impact on the hospitality and tourism sector.
In a post on X, Shekhawat said he reviewed the current supply scenario with Puri and senior officials from the Petroleum Ministry, addressing concerns faced by hotels, restaurants, and other businesses dependent on commercial LPG. The government has taken prompt steps to ease the situation, and starting today, businesses will receive 20 per cent of their average monthly commercial LPG requirement to ensure continuity of operations.
Additionally, extra supply measures are being worked out to support hotels and restaurants. Shekhawat said there will be close coordination between the Ministries of Petroleum and Tourism, along with industry stakeholders, to monitor the situation and address emerging concerns.
According to the minister, the current strain on LPG supply is part of a broader global disruption linked to the ongoing war. He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government remains committed to protecting consumer interests and supporting the hospitality and tourism ecosystem during this challenging period.
