India exposes Pak propaganda, debunks claims of damage to equipment, airbases
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Saturday dismissed Pakistan’s claims of having hit multiple locations in India as “false” and described accusations that New Delhi had attempted to target Amritsar and Afghanistan as “ludicrous”.
Speaking at a media briefing on ‘Operation Sindoor’, launched in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack, Misri said, “Pakistan has attempted to carry out a sustained and malicious misinformation campaign.” He specifically rebutted claims that India had fired missiles toward Amritsar and called the assertion that Indian missiles struck Afghanistan “totally frivolous”.
“The Afghan people don’t need to be reminded which country has, on multiple occasions in just the past year and a half, targeted civilian population and infrastructure in Afghanistan,” Misri said, in a veiled reference to Pakistan.
He added that Islamabad’s false claims included the alleged destruction of an Indian S-400 system at Adampur, airfields at Suratgarh and Sirsa, the BrahMos base at Nagrota, artillery positions at Dehrangyari and a Forward Ammunition Depot in Chandigarh. “India unequivocally rejects these false narratives being spread by Pakistan,” he said.
At the same briefing, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh presented time-stamped satellite images of Sirsa and Suratgarh airbases, stating: “The runways are intact.”
Misri reiterated that Pakistani claims were “heavy on lies, misinformation and propaganda” and noted that these were being pushed by Pakistani state agencies.
“Don’t be misled by the lies being peddled by the Pakistani state for obvious purposes,” Misri cautioned, adding, “There is also a consistent attempt on their part to sow discord between communities in India.”
The government also refuted allegations from Pakistan suggesting that India conducted a drone attack on the revered Nankana Sahib gurdwara in Pakistan’s Punjab province. A video circulating on social media purportedly shows an Indian drone targeting the gurdwara. However, India’s Press Information Bureau has labelled the video as “completely fake”, warning that such misinformation is designed to incite communal discord.
