External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday held separate phone conversations with Iranian foreign minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Israeli counterpart Gideon Sa’ar as West Asia reeled under massive tension following a joint US-Israel military offensive against Iran.
Talking about his conversation with Sa’ar in a post on X, Jaishankar said, “Reiterated India’s call for dialogue and diplomacy to de-escalate tensions.”
Jaishankar later spoke to his Araghchi. In another post on X, the EAM said, “Shared India’s deep concern at the recent developments in Iran and the region.”
Jaishankar also spoke to his Bahrain counterpart Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani on the turn of events in the region.
“The escalating developments are clearly a matter of concern. Was assured that his government would take all measures to keep the Indian community safe,” Jaishankar said.
