Jaishankar meets counterparts from UK, France, Brazil, Germany, Mexico on G7 sidelines

Reaffirms India’s commitment to expanding its global partnerships across key sectors

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar held a series of meetings with his counterparts from the United Kingdom, France, Brazil, Germany, and Mexico on the sidelines of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Niagara, Canada, reaffirming India’s commitment to expanding its global partnerships across key sectors.

In a post on X, Jaishankar said he was “glad to meet UK Foreign Secretary @YvetteCooperMP” and “acknowledged the positive momentum” in India-UK relations while reaffirming the India–UK Vision 2035 roadmap for deepening cooperation across priority areas.

He also met French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, where the two sides reviewed the progress in their Strategic Partnership and discussed ways to enhance engagement in multilateral and plurilateral forums.

With Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, Jaishankar said the talks focused on boosting trade, investment, health, and technology cooperation, recognising the “recent progress” in bilateral collaboration between the two major Global South economies.

In his meeting with Mexican Foreign Minister Dr Juan Ramón de la Fuente, the discussions centred on advancing cooperation in business, pharmaceuticals, and science and technology.

Jaishankar also met German Foreign Minister Johannes Wadephul, with whom he discussed strengthening the India-Germany Strategic Partnership and enhancing India–EU ties. The two leaders also exchanged views on developments in the Middle East, the Indo-Pacific, and Afghanistan.

Officials said Jaishankar’s back-to-back meetings reflected India’s proactive diplomatic engagement at multilateral platforms and its growing role in shaping global discussions on trade, technology, and regional stability.
