Jharkhand man arrested for raping 13-year-old girl, getting her pregnant

A man was arrested in Jharkhand’s Giridih district on Saturday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl multiple times, because of which she got pregnant, police said.

The 35-year-old man was arrested after the family of the girl, who is four months pregnant, lodged a police complaint, they said.

“The accused had repeatedly raped the minor. He has confessed to the crime,” said Jayprakash Kumar, the officer-in-charge of Gawan police station.

“The FIR was lodged after the girl’s parents noticed suspicious physical changes in her body. On being questioned, the victim told them that the man had been sexually abusing her and had threatened to kill her if she disclosed it to anyone,” he said.
