MHA tableau to highlight India’s new criminal laws at national event
Display to showcase technology-driven, victim-centric reforms in justice system
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) tableau will showcase the enactment and implementation of three transformative criminal laws - the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, marking a paradigm shift in India’s criminal justice system. The laws were enacted in 2023 and came into force on July 1, 2024.
The front section of the tableau features the three new law books placed atop the new Parliament building, symbolising the government’s commitment to constitutional values and democratic principles.
The central portion highlights operational reforms driven by scientific investigation and digital evidence. It depicts a forensic expert examining a crime scene and a police officer using the e-Sakshya application for digital evidence collection. An LED display illustrates the increasing use of technology in the justice system, including fingerprint analysis through NAFIS and virtual hearings via Nyay Shruti. A mobile forensic van represents rapid access to crime scenes.
The rear section portrays a female officer managing an integrated control-room system, reflecting time-bound justice, swift response, and a victim-centric approach supported by digital tools such as CCTV surveillance.
The backside of the tableau displays law books in multiple languages, underscoring accessibility for all citizens. Ground-level visuals depict trained police personnel, forensic experts and women officers in special units and beat patrols, highlighting inclusiveness, professionalism and a people-centric approach.
