Misri met Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC (IDCPC), who is in India from January 12 to 14, as part of party-to-party exchanges between the two countries. The discussions covered progress made in recent months to arrest the slide in ties and explored ways to take bilateral engagement forward in the new year, officials said.

During the meeting, Sun briefed the Foreign Secretary on her impressions from the visit, including her interactions with Indian media, think tanks and political parties. She also outlined China’s expectations to expand exchanges under the MEA–IDCPC programme, a key institutional mechanism for dialogue between India’s Ministry of External Affairs and the CPC’s international wing.

Misri, in turn, underlined the importance of enhancing mutual understanding between the peoples of India and China as an essential element in rebuilding trust. In this context, he stressed the need for positive and constructive steps to create a conducive environment for improved bilateral relations.

According to a post by the CPI (Marxist) on X, its leader R Arun Kumar participated in the interaction, along with CPI general secretary D Raja and national secretariat member Rama Krushna Panda and All India forward bloc general secretary G Devarajan.
