President Droupadi Murmu today led the nation in paying tributes to the bravehearts who ensured India’s historic victory in the 1971 war with Pakistan. Murmu inaugurated ‘Param Vir Dirgha’ at Rashtrapati Bhavan, displaying portraits of all 21 Param Vir Chakra awardees.

Commemorating India’s historic victory in the 1971 war, through a post on X, Murmu paid tributes to the bravehearts, whose valour, devotion and patriotism have always brought glory to the nation and will continue to inspire every citizen.

The President added that the ‘Empowerment through Indigenisation’ initiative of the Indian Armed Forces reflects their commitment towards being prepared for future challenges. The President also felicitated PVC awardees and next-of-kin on the occasion.
