CBI arrests Latur-based doctor, Pune coaching centre teacher in NEET paper leak case
So far, 13 accused have been arrested in this case from Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Nasik, Pune, Latur and Ahliyanagar
The CBI on Wednesday morning arrested two more accused in NEET-UG, 2026, examination paper leak case, bringing the total number of persons arrested in this case to 13.
One of the arrested accused is Dr Manoj Shirure, a Latur-based doctor, who allegedly played a key role in facilitating three students, including the son of an accused coaching centre owner, in getting chemistry questions from accused PV Kulkarni.
The other arrested accused is Tejas Harshadkumar Shah, who is a physics teacher at Dr Abhang Prabhu Medical Academy (APMA), a Pune-based coaching centre.
He got the leaked physics questions of NEET UG 2026 Exam from arrested accused Manisha Havaldar.
The CBI has so far conducted searches at 49 locations at various places and seized several incriminating documents, laptops and mobile phones. Detailed analysis of the seized items is going on, agency sources said.
The CBI had registered the case on May 12 based on the written complaint given by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, pertaining to the alleged paper leak of NEET-UG 2026.
Immediately after the registration of the case, special teams were formed and searches were conducted at various locations across the country, and several suspects were picked up and interrogated.
So far, 13 accused have been arrested in this case from Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Nasik, Pune, Latur and Ahliyanagar. Investigation is under way with various special teams working in tandem and the investigation has brought out the actual source of leakage of chemistry, biology and physics questions which were circulated before the exam.
Shivraj Motegaonkar, founder of Latur-based Renukai Career Centre (RCC), who was arrested by the CBI in Pune on May 18 in the NEET paper leak case, is one of the most prominent persons to have been arrested in the matter so far.
The coaching centre run by him is one of the biggest coaching centres in Maharashtra for NEET, JEE and CET preparations.
