Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday accused the Congress and its “first family” of corruption, usurping of land and long-standing neglect of Assam, while positioning the BJP-NDA alliance as a driver of development, employment and regional security.
In a veiled attack on Rahul Gandhi’s “ATM” remark, PM Modi at a public gathering in Dibrugarh alleged that the “so called first family of the Congress are the real land ATM”. Adding that the Congress leadership had been involved in multiple land-related controversies, including the National Herald case, claiming that prime land worth thousands of crores in cities like Delhi and Mumbai had been improperly acquired.
He also referred to allegations involving the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust and the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund, stating that both institutions face accusations of land encroachment and ongoing legal scrutiny.
He said despite the discovery of oil and gas resources in Assam, previous governments failed to promote industrial growth, limiting economic benefits for residents.
