The award was also conferred on Hero Motocorp’s Pawan Munjal; Mankind Pharma’s RC Juneja and Punjab Kesari group’s Kiran Chopra.

After society patron and former MP Tarlochan Singh and society president Anil Kohli honoured the recipients, Sandhu, in his remarks, hailed the Punjabi spirit of resilience and entrepreneurship.

Describing Baisakhi as a reminder of who the Punjabis are, “courageous and always ready to begin again”, Sandhu said, “No matter where Punjabis go, they carry two things with them — the ability to work hard and the instinct to build a community.”

The Delhi L-G said while Punjabis had built successful individual journeys across the globe, they should now convert this into a stronger collective force.

Recalling the contribution of Sikhs and Punjabis to the development of New Delhi, Sandhu said the true strength of Punjabis had never been just in what they achieved, but in how they uplifted others along the way. “As we gather here today, so accomplished, so diverse, yet so deeply connected, let us make a quiet promise that wherever we are in the world, we will not just carry Punjab in our hearts, but also contribute to its people; we will not just celebrate together, but also stand for one another,” the Delhi L-G said.

Earlier, Tarlochan Singh also addressed the gathering, which commenced with a shabad kirtan.
