Ten days after a landslide struck an Army camp at Chaten in North Sikkim, two more bodies were recovered from the site on Tuesday, taking the toll to six, a police officer said.
“Two more bodies — a male and a female — have been recovered from the site of the landslide,” Mangan SP Sonam Detchu Bhutia said. The SP said that the bodies were yet to be identified.
Three Army men had lost their lives and six had been reported missing in the June 1 incident. The bodies of three of the six missing persons have been recovered so far, Bhutia said. The rescuers had on Monday recovered the body of an Army man, Sainudheen PK. The search operation was underway, the SP said.
