UPES clinches Shaheed Memorial Cup for sixth consecutive year

At the 12th edition of the Shaheed Memorial Cricket Tournament, UPES clinched the championship title for the sixth consecutive year. Organised under Project Naman, the annual tournament honours the courage and sacrifice of India’s bravehearts while extending financial and social support to their families.
The tournament, which commenced on January 2, was held at the UPES Bidholi campus and paid tribute to late Shri Mohan Lal (ASI) of the CRPF, a recipient of the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry.
In a one-sided contest, UPES secured a comprehensive victory by 147 runs in the final against the Irrigation Department, Haridwar.
The 12th edition of the tournament was inaugurated by the Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr Jayasankar Elassery Variyar, in the presence of UPES faculty and staff, said a press release.
Speaking on the occasion, Manish Madaan, Registrar, UPES, said, “The Shaheed Memorial Cricket Tournament is not just a sporting event for us; it is a collective expression of gratitude and remembrance. Through Project Naman, UPES remains committed to honouring the courage and sacrifice of our bravehearts by standing with their families in a meaningful way.”
