Inter-media athletics meet concludes



Chandigarh, February 9

As many as 150 press club (Sector 27) members and their families participated in the Servo Inter-Media Athletics Championship at the Sector 7 Sports Complex, today.

In the women's open category, Shail Kapoor, Jaspal Kaur and Charanjeet Kaur claimed top three positions, respectively, in shot put. In 40-50 years category, Anu Sabharwal claimed the top position, followed by Sarla Rawat at second position and Rashi Shrivastva at third. In the +50 years, Ranju Gupta, Rajni Sharma and Sucheta claimed first three positions, respectively.

In the men's open category, Vikas Thakur claimed the gold medal, while Gurmeet Singh claimed silver medal and Sunil Kapoor finished at third position. In 45-55 years, Bhupinder Jishtu won the gold medal, Mansa Ram Rawat claimed the silver medal and Umesh Ghrera claimed the third position. In +55 years category, Ramesh Sharma won the gold medal, Sarabjit Singh Sabharwal won silver and Surinder Singh Rawal claimed bronze.

In men's open category discus throw event, Satish Kumar, Vikas and Ashwani Kumar claimed the top three positions, respectively, while in 45-55 years event, Mansa Ram Rawat, Bhupinder Jishtu and Amarpreet Singh claimed top three positions, respectively.

In +55 years, Sarabjit Singh Sabharwal claimed the top spot, followed by Ramesh Sharma and LN Patnaik. In women's + 50 years discus throw event, Rajni Sharma, Ranju and Sucheta won top three positions, respectively. In open 3km walk, Prabhat Katiyar, Birender Singh Rawat and Ashwani Kumar claimed top three positions, respectively. Sanjay Kalia won 45-55 years gold medal, followed by Sameer Sharma and Raj Kumar Shrivastva at joint second position and

Amarpreet Singh at third. In +55 years category, Amarnath Vashisht, Rajeshwar Gupta and Ramesh Sharma won the top three positions, respectively. —TNS
