Jammu, August 7
One person was killed and two others injured when a landslide struck a remote village in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, officials said.
Two daily wage workers of the Jal Shakti Department, along with a labourer, were repairing a water pipeline at Simbli in Darhal Dhok when they came under the landslide, officials said.
According to information, local residents immediately launched a rescue operation. All of the injured were taken to a hospital. During treatment, one of the daily wagers, Mohd Shabir (48), a resident of Chowkian village, was declared dead. The area is said to be prone to landslides and mudslides are frequent here.
