The deceased have been identified as Liyakat Ahmad Deedard and Ishfaq Ahmad Khatana, both residents of Chandoosa in Baramulla district.

Soon after the incident, the Army launched a massive rescue operation in the area. However, the bodies were later recovered from the Poonch sector of the Jammu region, located on the other side of the Gulmarg sector.

Poonch falls under the operational control of the Nagrota-based White Knight (16) Corps of the Army. Sources said the bodies were recovered during search operations in the area.
