In a post on X, Singh said that out of the total Rs 3,566 crore approved for rural roads in the Union Territory for the 2025–26 cycle (Batch II), Rs 1,524.46 crore—nearly 43 per cent of the entire budget—has been earmarked for five districts within his constituency.

In a letter attached to the post, Shivraj Singh Chouhan highlighted the number of road works approved and the funds allocated. He emphasised that the development would significantly contribute to the socio-economic growth of the region and stressed the need for timely completion without compromising quality.

A total of Rs 1,524.46 crore has been allocated to one constituency out of the UT’s Rs 3,566 crore outlay. As part of the plan, 652.51 km of new roads will be constructed in these five districts, accounting for 41 per cent of the total 1,600 km planned across Jammu and Kashmir. The project includes 121 road works aimed at providing all-weather connectivity to 138 previously unconnected habitations.

Singh wrote: “Good news for Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Lok Sabha constituency. Under PMGSY-IV Batch II (2025–26), out of Rs 3,566 crore approved for Jammu and Kashmir, Rs 1,524.46 crore has been allocated to this constituency.”

He expressed gratitude to Narendra Modi and Chouhan for their support. “Nearly 43 per cent of the PMGSY-IV allocation for J&K will be utilised in these five districts,” Singh noted, highlighting the Centre’s focus on remote and difficult terrains.

“Thanks very much, PM Shri @narendramodi ji, for always giving high priority to providing connectivity in far-flung, remote, and hilly areas. Kind of you, Shri @ChouhanShivraj ji, for your personal support.” In a formal letter attached to the announcement, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasised that while the funds have been cleared, the focus must now shift to execution.

In his letter, Chouhan said the approval of 121 road works covering 652.51 km would enhance rural infrastructure and boost economic activity. He underlined that swift execution and quality assurance are essential to ensure long-term public benefit.

The large-scale infrastructure push is expected to transform the rural landscape of the Jammu region by improving connectivity and facilitating the movement of goods and services in geographically challenging areas.
