Six employees of the Lakhanpur toll post were today arrested for allegedly assaulting three local youths over the payment of toll late on Monday night.
The arrests were made after a local man, Sunny Kumar, lodged a complaint with the police against seven staff members of the toll post for allegedly assaulting the three youths.
The arrested persons were identified as Sumit of Hatli Morh, Faizann of Anantnag, Srinagar, Tippu of Lakhanpur, Balwinder Singh of Kharot Lakhanpur, Anuj Sharma of Lakhanpur and Rocky Singh of Hatli Morh Kathua,
The toll post staff also lodged a counter complaint with the police against the unknown persons.
On Monday night, the Lakhanpur toll plaza was ransacked by a mob after three local youths were allegedly assaulted following an altercation over the payment of toll with the plaza staff.
Kathua Deputy Commissioner OP Bhagat has imposed prohibitory orders on the assembly of four or more people under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in the area.
The toll plaza was made operational on July 21.
